Pets & Wildlife

Carol Woods’ residents love sharing their 120-acre campus with wildlife, both big and small. As a backyard wildlife habitat and a bird sanctuary, Carol Woods is home to several native species. On a recent bird walk, the bird watching committee spotted 25 types of birds, including chickadees, red-bellied woodpeckers and yellow-rumped warblers.

Pets are also welcome at Carol Woods. Many residents have dogs or cats and the community has two aviaries and some tropical fish. However, Carol Woods does limit the number of pets a resident may have to two (2) and present residents who wish to acquire a pet must confer with Management before committing to this.

The Carol Woods Dog Park

A designated space for Carol Woods’ canine populace to run and frolic on campus officially opened in September of 2008 to great anticipation from dog-owners and dog-lovers alike. The Carol Woods Dog Park was resident-driven and offers a 140-by-160 foot state-of-the-art park which offers natural surroundings for the dogs to enjoy.

The park was designed to suit the exercise needs of both large and small dogs. Smaller dogs can play in a circular fenced-in area that is inside the larger big dog area.

The bigger dogs have a larger and less defined space to run, which includes a path for dog owners to walk while the dogs run. Benches are provided for residents to sit on while they watch their dogs play.
