Welcome to Carol Woods– a retirement community where the residents are anything but retiring!

Since becoming the first retirement community in Chapel Hill in 1979, Carol Woods has set the standard for excellence in the industry. In November 2007, Carol Woods was one of two inaugural recipients of the national Pathways to Greatness Award, which recognized our strong leadership, superior performance, distinctive impact, best practices/innovations and customer feedback.

Situated on 120 wooded acres, Carol Woods is an accredited, not-for-profit continuing care retirement community that attracts active, independent residents from across the country. Carol Woods holds an ‘A’ credit rating from Standard & Poor’s who, in granting this rating, acknowledged Carol Woods’ “sound financial practices, strong board of directors, and excellent management team”.

Located in close proximity to both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University, Carol Woods residents enjoy an active lifestyle of learning, growing and contributing to both Carol Woods and the community at large. Carol Woods’ focus on well-being and preventative health care enables our residents to pursue the things that matter to them throughout retirement, whether volunteering in our on-site Children’s Center, joining a bird walk on one of our wooded trails, or attending the symphony or theater.

Since Carol Woods currently has a 10 year minimum waiting time, it is critical that you plan well in advance of the time you hope to move. Please contact us to find out more about planning today for an exciting future at Carol Woods.
